Default Running lean

I've got a carb'd 89 LX with a stock 302 aside for my exhaust. Had an issue with the car wanting to fall on its face above 3k rpms. So I spoke to MSD and they recommended a "cheaper" plug then the Bosch plugs that were in the car when I bought it. So I bought some Champion copper plus plugs. With those plugs thecar no longer tried to fall on its face above 3k rpms. But I've been running 93 octane and since the plug swap the car started to run lean...does this mean the plugs aretoo hot? What can I do to fix this and has anyone else had this issue, I've swapped to the other plugs for the mean time.

My old man recommended running the older Bosch plugs and 87 octane, would that make any sense?

I would say you running to hot of a plug
Get some Autolites and tell them at the store to give you a cooler plug

Now concerning the 87 octane idea....wouldn't the faster burn of 87 octane contribute to how lean its running? Thing its worth a shot to run the colder Bosch plugs with the 87? Would save me at the pump..I guess. This is just my daily driver so its just got to get me around townmy '04 GT is my toy.

well if its a stock 302 93 octane is a waste anyway try just running just the 87 octane , Did you play with your timing at all

Yea we checked the timing and its dead on. I'll give the 87a shot ..don't know about which plugs though. It wouldn't make sense that it would want to fall on its face above 3k rpms based on the octane right?
