Default can anyone lift my spirits before i torch this thing?

so the motor i bought, supposingly having 375 horse..
runs like a striped assed ape
but its been burning coolant out of the exhaust
and dipstick turnin up white
i changed the intake gasket 3 times.. thinking maybe i didnt get it right
so i finally mustered up the courage tonight and pulled the heads off..

i found a busted piston...

along with a crack in one of my cylinder walls.. yeah that woudl explain the coolant

the motor is bored 60 over

the crack is minor.. but definitely there..

bore the cylinder, sleeve it 40, bore it 60 again?

i dont know what to do.. im takin the heads to the machine shop tomorrow.. to make sure i didnt bend any valves

im fallin out of love with this car fast.. and i still owe money on it

ive got a pretty decent mod list.. but that doesnt mean **** with a cracked .060 over cylinder wall

basically my spirits are pretty broken

60over????? that is to far on a thin wall casting stock block... dont waiste your time with that block.. and dont bore it that far again... IMHO 60 over with any stock windsor block is a overheating time bomb.

Just man up and invest in a DART block. Well worth the money and a hell of a lot stronger. Throw a new set of .30 over pistons in it and call it a day.

just pickup a shortblock from a local jukyard and slap it in there. and stay away from a 0.060 overbore.

it really sucks that it broke though, do you have any pics?

so he said..
its runnin 10.5 to 1 compression with a set of 66 289 heads
the mod list on the motor is a page long...

hey man i really appreciate the offer..
but im in MO
but i DO appreciate it thanks

this is the sheet i got from the guy i bought the motor from

Block - hot tanked, magnafluxed, bored .060 over, Power honed, decked, new cam bearings and brass freeze plugs installed

Crankshaft - turned .020 under oil holes chambfered, ground to the middle of tolerance, journals micro-polished, and edges radiused. Fluidamper installed with spacer for serpentine drive belt

Rods PAW high performance connecting rods, shot peened, magnafluxed, fitted with milodon chrome moly rod bolts and ends were resized, then the rods were balance to weigh the same

Pistons Federal mogul performance parts antifriction coated hypereutectic pistons .060 oversize.. works out to be 311 cid and 10.0 to 1 compression with the shaved 289 heads. pistons are a flat top design with four large valve reliefs. if your not familiar with hyperurtectic pistons, they are light as a cost piston, but almost as strong as a forged piston without the thermal expansion problems associated with forged pistons in street motors. Blower approved. All were balanced to weigh the same.

Rings high performance right set includes moly top compression ring, cast second ring, and stainless oil rings.

Bearings clevite 77 rod and main bearings all were checked with plastigauge during installation, and used lots of assembly lube to protect everything

Oil system ford motorsport svo high volume oil pump ARP 170,000psi chrome moly oil pump drive shaft
milodon 7qt pan and pickup tube.

Camshaft - 5.0L Firing Order (13726548)214-224 duration Advertised as 290-300 gross valve lift is .472-496 with 110 degree lobe centers. With an edelbrock performer intake and 650 holley, the motor pulls strong to 6200 rpm. only pulled strong to 5600 rpm injected.

camshaft retaining plate ford motorsport part is made from forged steel instead of factory cast iron peice

lifters- ford motorsport anti pumpup hydraylic racing valve tappets

Pushrods - Crane Cams heat treated chrome moly pushrods

Cylinder Heads 1966 289 2v heads 54.5cc combustion chambers surface .015", hardened exhaust seats installed. 1.84"chevy intake valves installed. 1.60" chevy exhaust valves installed. Rocker studs removed and stud bosses machined down to proper height and then bosses tapped for 7/16" studs. Heavy duty springs and locks were installed to match the camshaft. the heads are fitted with comp cams adjustable roller tip rocker arms as to adjust the anti pump up lifters. the guide plates are built into the heads.
