They work (E cams), but there is much better tech in newer cams. TFS, Comp, Lunati....anything w/ a split lift/duration is excellent for Ford heads......

Spend a little extra and geta valve spring kit from Summit or somewhere. You'll thank yourself later when you haven't floated valves or destroyed your motor.

if you have the gt40's already that maybe spend a few bucks in putting bigger valves in them this will unshrud the valves some and get a 5 angle valve job..when going to another valve spend a few bucks and get the pro-flow manley with the cut back stem..it flows better and it's several grams lighter which is a real bonus...flow is like 10% better with the valves. or find a nice used aluminum set with the 1.90 valve in it..the stage 2 which is 542-563 if my memory serves me correctly...

FYI manleys are junk and having manleys with cut down stems is just asking for trouble. seen many a racin motors with manleys come in with heads popped off the valves, keeper grooves messed up, etc etc. quality valves are a MUST if you want things to last.

ferrea makes the best valves on the planet, hands down. believe it or not the OEM ford valves are pretty good for most stuff, which is why its no problem to reuse old valves if your sticking with the same size stuff.

oh and 2 kwik, putting in larger valves doesnt unshroud the valves. unshrouding refers to cutting back the area in the chamber next to the valve to let the air flow better in and out of the chamber. i made a crude picture to show where the meat is removed from the head to "unshroud" a valve (red lines). keep in mind this adds volume to the chambers which lowers compression, but its minimal and the benefits can most certainly outweigh any MINOR drop in compression. in most cases unshrouding may only add a couple cc's to the chamber size.
