canister purge solenoid??

Default canister purge solenoid??

i have an 88 gt converted to mass air. my canister purge solenoid is not hooked up. Dous any one know the importance of it ?? should i just get rid of it all together or try to find parts to restore it?

yank it off.i did,and it did'nt do anything ill to my car...code will come up,but no check light so it's all good.

ok, iwas under the impression that it had something to do with the vacuum system or somethin, but as long as i can get away with out it i guess i will

it has something to do with the storage and retrieval of gas tank fumes from the carbon canister mounted down low up front on the passenger side of the car. supposedly, the fumes are stored in the crankcase when the engine is off and are sucked back into the intake manifold when the engine is started if everything is hooked up correctly and working. if you don't use it, worse case you might be getting some dilution of the engine oil with gas, but I don't think it would be a lot.
