5.8l worth it?
 
i have a buddy that has a 351 for sale for $200 not sure if its a windsor or a cleveland is it worth it to drop it in my fox instead of building a stroker?

edit: sorry i know this has probably gone around and around but i would like some first hand experience or knowledge

What's the engine like? How many miles, where'd it come from, how did it run, etc. You need to find out more facts on it before you make a decision. It doesn't sound like you're too experienced, would you really feel comfortable doing all of that work? It can be done, but better to have an idea of what you're doing before taking on a project like that.

a well built 351 will out power a 347 sooooo since u could stroke a 351 to a 408 which is even more power seems like an easy choice.

P.S the 347 is maxed around 450hp. a 351 (im not positive) but was told is good up to 600. Just the block im not talking about the internals.

well its a short block and has been sitting for a year or so.. i have another buddy of mine that builds super pro race engines and he will help me do it for cost of parts plue like $100 all i am really looking to use is the stockblock and the crank if i am doing a complete performance rebuild correct? oh i am trying to get soemwhere around 450-500 hp

my build up........

351W, bored .03 over
stock crank, stock rods, forged pistons
ARP bolts and studs thru-out
Ford Racing windage tray
10.2-1 compression
AFR 185 heads with upgraded springs
.579/.579 - 236/248 cam from CompCams
1 3/4 LT's

475hp at 6,000 rpm on the engine dyno
making about 435-450 installed in the car with EFI crap.

and I still have plenty of room to add a turbo later
for 500+rwhp.
Not so safe doing that on a 347 stroker.

You can excede 500hp on a stock 5.0 block. Just you better make sure that you have a good tuner and he knows WTF he is doing ;)

thanks r. barn what all has to be changed out to do the swap? i ma guessing the front accessories wont work but are tehre any relocation modifications that have to be made?

Check the tech articles in the 351W section. There is a sticky on doing the swap & including everything that you need to do the swap.
