disconnected IAC valve..

ok, so my '88 gt idle's anywhere from 2000-3500 rpm's when it gets warm. is it alright to drive around with the IAC disconnected until i can replace it??? might be tomorrow, might be monday... just curious if that would hurt anything. your thoughts?

wont hurt anything. the iac is just to help keep the idle smooth. if the car idles without it, itll be fine

When you car is cold, you may have a stalling issue, but you will be fine like said above. I ran mine without for a few weeks till i figured out my hanging idle problem.

so the IAC valve wasn't the cause of your hanging idle problem?? i'm planning on getting a new IAC tomorrow and throwing it on, because the car drove fine all tonight without it plugged in, leading me to believe that there isn't anything else causing my high idle.

My base idel was set too high. As funny as it sounds, I just unhooked the IAC, turned the idel screw down till is just barly ran and stalled, re set TPS, re connected my IAC and my problem was fixed.
