i know you get what you pay for, but is it really worth the 700 extra dollars?
Why does it have to be $700 more?

I DO NOT OWN FORDSTROKER. The owner is a friend of mine.

he's talking about the price dif between two kits hes looking at...

cast steel crank and forged I beam rods w/ arp bolts - 1000 bucks
forged steel crank and H beam rods - 1700 bucks

both kits have same rings/bearings/probe forged pistons

IMO a cast steel crank and forged I beam rods would be plenty to support 500-600 HP

fullauto you agree?

My point was he shouldn't pay an extra $700 for the forged crank kit. It should be ~$1400.
No matter, I agree he would probably have money better spent on the cast crank kit. And his goal should be 500rwhp, not 500hp. That's not difficult by any means.

not sure about the block but the crank/rods all depends on what kind you buy (forged/cast/H-beam/I-beam/etc)

I wouldn't say it's a common thing. I met 500hp is easy. If the original poster is talking about getting a custom cam, by working closely with the designer (and hopefully he chooses wisely *cough*JayAllen*cough*), he should be able to make 500rwhp on pump gas.

You can push the limits a little more with a nitrous car depending on what rpm range you're in. Personally, I wouldn't feel bad about pushing 700rwhp on a nitroused 351 based stroker in a stock block at 6500rpm or less.
