well you answered your own question the most would be 5800 rpm that is where your cams power tops out. also its only going to rev as good as your valve train will allowwhat heads are on there?????

well the cam will make power past 5,800...i wasnt planning to go past 6,000 b/c of durability issues...my friends 418 cam made power at like 7,500...pushed it real far on the dyno! made 731hp!!! N/A!!!!!
i have the edel. RPM heads w/ 2.02 intake valve...i also have rpm 2 manifolds...so i figured this would make a real good steet car and a decent track car...here are my mods...
95 GT
331 Stroker
Edelbrock Performer RPM 2 Manifolds
Edelbrock RPM Heads 2.02 intake valves, 60cc chamber, 170cc intake
30lb Injectors
Fenderwell intake
70mm Throttle Body
75mm Pro-M MAF
Comp Cam Grind # FW XE270HR-14 (1800-5800rpm)
BBK Shory Equal Lengths
FR Aluminum Drive Shaft
Subframe Connectors
Street Tires
AODE able to hold 450hp
approx 3000 stall

eventually ill have the tweecer r/t, control arms, slicks, 31 spline, and prob. 3.73's... i should be high 11's with all this.

a 418 inch motor????? if so you are comparing apples to oranges.... if he has that same cam in a 418 and makes that much power i am amazed because a 270 series comp cam aint that radical. i have a 292 series in my car.

Well first of all just because comp says your cam makes peak power at 5800 rpm doesnt it will. Those ranges are basic guides for selecting your cam. Many things can come into play that can vary that range alot. Without running it on the dyno to find the exactRPM it makes peakpower, I'd say 6000RPM would be a goodnumber to start with. If your somewhat consistant at the track you can try shifting at different RPM'suntil you find the sweet spot. I wouldnt shift much past 6500 RPM if you wantyour engineto live a somewhat long and happy life. Besides, I doubt it wouild make more power shifting it any higher.

6k sounds like a good number... And that a number not to go over... I would just drive the hell out of it and pay close attention when it stops pulling hard and levels off, at that point is where you need to shift
