i had my car timing at 12, took it to the track and my fastest time was 15.747....the guy i bought the car from said that bc of the e303 cam that the timing should be at 14....so i came home, raced on the street at the same timing got 17.03 on the 1/4 mile with 83.4 mph, i was going to change the timing to 14 but accidently put it on 24 without the fuse and then when i put the fuse back on it was at 32 degrees...raced on the street and got timed at 15.99 with 93.5 mph...so here comes my question , will having my car at this timing hurt my engine or anything in any way??? oh.,. i also tried it on 14, and i got 16.56 with 84.3 mph...should i just leave it the way it is at this super high timing, car doesnt bogg down or anything...
First off, IMO your timing isnt really gonna give you that great of a HP difference to worry about, get it set at a good degree and leave it- which you tell by detonation, Does it ping when you at WOT? thats when you know you to high, and your post was confusing-what is it at right now?
time it at 15 with the fuse on or off, ( I dont know what the fuse is called but its in front of the distributer and when you take it off the timing goes down like 10 degrees.)
Spout connector. 16* should be about as much as you want to go, at least with the stock computer. Guys have gained horsepower by dropping their timing from 18* to 16
