Default Where to begin...

A week ago i purchases my first mustang, a '92 302. Manual tranny of course. The guy selling it just wrecked his truck and needed money for some surgeries. He wanted just 2500 but i got it for 2, so i thought i was stealing it.

Come to find out, this guy hasn't changed the oil in like 8 months, owned the car for 4 years but never changed the air filter, only changed the 4 spark plugs he could get to and the others have been there since he bought it. This guy was a complete idiot.

Alright, i got it going now, cleaned the inside of his trash and spent all day removing that window tint that he'd put on there himself which turned out terrible but i guess he liked it. And the more i look at it the more i find that is wrong.

Anyways, my question. I plan on puttin some money into this thing, both interior and performance (the interior is disgusting and felt like he has poured syrup on everything so im just gonna replace it all). But performance wise, where should i begin?

My first thought was to start from the headers on back and get it all out of the way. Is this a good place to start or is there a something better? If so, what headers/exhaust would be great for this thing?

I have no idea about the headers but ive thought about an x pipe under her...

That car is a '94+, not a '92.
Even though it might need some work you stole it for $2k.

One of the first things Id do is the exhaust too. Im putting a BBK offroad x pipe on mine and it already has Flowmaster Force II mufflers (a bit too quiet).
Ive got Ford Racing shorty headers. BBK and MAC also make good headers.

Another thing I would do is swap the gears to 3.73's.

I hope the pic's are not of the '92 you bought, because you have a whole different problem.
