85 GT Holley Carb Help
Did some work on the 85 tonight - got an original grey distributor cap put back on it and some original Motorcraft plugs & wire. While doing it I found two issues with the carb.
*On the very back of the carb in the middle is a hose (about 1/2") that runs over to the passenger side, above the valve coverandalong all the AC hoses. It is not connected to anything. Is this some sort of overflow, and should it be connected to anything?
*The choke plate is not closing all the way when it engages. The very small allen head set screw that runs down through the plastic spring loaded "rotator" is down too far and it is rusted so I can't loosen it out [:@]Can the choke assembly be removed from the carb while it is on the car so I can get to the screw to remove it? If so, any tips??

RE: 85 GT Holley Carb Help
get a new holley those ones were only made two years 84 and 85 i have an 84 they were the worst holleys out there and they were recalled. i got a new one and my car has run soooooo much better even after i did the rebuild on the old carb. as for that hose its for the vapor recovery system which doesnt even really work so just plug the line and you will be fine.

Thanks for the debate fellas But replacing is not what I asked for or an option - this car is remaining 100% stock. The car runs fine, just has trouble starting when cold due to the choke plate situation.
So I understand that I can remove/plug that line coming off the rear, which I probably will do. But what SHOULD it be connected to - anything? Was there a recover tank that was possibly removed?
How about the choke, can I pull that assembly off the side of the carb without having to remove the entire carb? Any tips on how to?

i had one of those carbs once, i put plastic cap off thingys on the vents, and the choke should come off with a few screws and then a little cotter pin or whatever it is that connects the linkage to the choke plate (if memory serves)
i MAY still have parts to that stock holley (mine came off a early 80's 351w in a van but prolly the same one) if you want any extra parts for that thing lemmie know i'd send em to ya if you paypal'd me for shipping.
