computer

I have a 331 stroker and I was told i need to reset my computer. They told me I could send it in and get it done for about 200 or get a new one for 400. Who do I send it to or can i buy one off superchips or something? Do I need a custom chip?

Option 3 - Spend $380, buy a tweecer base model, and reprogram it yourself :)And with that, you can make as many changes as you want in the future when you have to retune the car for future mods.

What computer do you have? A9L, A9P, etc???
As long as the MAF/Injectors/Computer are all properly matched, I don't know why you would 'need' a retune.

My 408w ran fairly well on the factory X3Z (93 Cobra) computer for several months.
I doubt a 331 is far enough from factory to require a tune.

If you do decide on a tune though (yes the power and drivability will improve with a custom tune)...
Mailing your computer out for a tune is not the best option.
It is preferred to tune the car yourself, or take the car to a dyno shop for a custom chip.
Tweecer.com has a list of retailers for the tweecer base and RT models.
At least consider the RT, as the datalogging function is worth the money.

Other tuner options include
Anderson PMS
MegaSquirt
Moates.net equipment

even a stock engine can gain about 20 real horsepower by tuning with 02's wide band;)
