Default fuel filter

I want to change my fuel filter in my 91 mustang and want to know how to do it. Its fuel injected so how do you get the pressure out of the line.

jack rear of car up/jack stands
pull neg battery cable
located filter take flat head screwdriver and pry white plastic clips off(2)

I always do this after the car has been sitting overnite as I haven't had to really relieve any pressure

You filter will be behind the gas tank and is actually pretty easy to get to. Only take like 10 mins. Just wear some eye protection. Last time I had a drop get into my eye and it BURNED!!!!!

I just did mine on saturday. Its really easy. i didnt bother to release any pressure. I just took the clips off pulled off the line. let it drain into a cup. then put the new one on. Wasn't the cleanest way, i did tget covered in gas a bit. But it was quick and easy. +1 on the eye protection, i kept getting rust flakes in my eyes.

you can relieve the pressure in the line by letting it sit...or you can do it by starting your car then disconnecting your fuel safety switch shutoff in the trunk, it will run for a couple seconds as it uses the gas in the lines then it will die

Or just find the fuel pump relay and yank it while the car is running...it'll only take a few seconds to die. Shutoff switch is easy too, but you have to remove the molding

I always use the Schrader (sp) valve. Its on the right front of the motor. Looks like a vlave stem. Just push something into it to releave the pressure then change the filter.
