Default help needed Pressurized cooling system

Ok i drove my car from work to my house which is only a few minutes and when i got home i noticed coolant coming out of the overflow. I was dark out so i couldnt really dive into it and see what was wrong.
It turns out that something is mmaking pressure in my cooling system. Headgasket bad? i dont see any smoke but, my friend told me to use some stuff from napa to seal the gasket. he said its a small leak in the head gasket making the compression go into the colling system. Should i put that stuff in it? Or just go all out and fix the head gaskets and have the heads checked for cracks and warping? they are gt 40's also what plugs should i use with a gt 40 head? its an 86 gt t top f cam eldebrok peformer 306 tko trans 373 gears i jus tpicked the car up for 4500

Hows the oil?, and why do you think its ahead gasket because of the overflow "overflowing"?

the oil is fine, not milky, the reason i think headgasket is because i tried to change thermostat and then i burped the cooling system and the upper radiator hose almost blew off because all the pressure and it gets hot and i shut it off and all the coolant pours outta the overflow

sounds like you didnt burp it enough. put your rad cap on so its on but not tight basicly the mid point. let the car idle for a good 15 minutes while watching your temp gauge and see what happens and did you put the t-stat in right?

You mean something like stop leak? If so, don't bother. Just fix it right and be done. But from what you're describing, yeah sounds like a head/gasket issue.
