to supercharge or not??

Default to supercharge or not??

Is it a good idea to put a supercharger on a mustang with 166,000 miles....or should i look into something else

That really depends on your engine. It actually has more to do with how well the car has been taken care of than the mileage. If your engine has been well taken care of (regular oil changes, not beat on too hard) then you should have no problem with a blower as long as it's tuned properly. However, if the car went 12k miles between each oil change, the throttle body never closed, and it's been run with no coolant for the past 10 years (just an example) you shouldn't even consider it. The first thing I would do is a very thorough inspection, to include a compression test.
