ok

1. find TDC on the number 1 piston(pass side front piston)(if u need to know how to do this, ask)
2. drop in the distributor
3. if u marked it all before it came out it makes life easier, if not , o well
4. position the dist so that the rotor is pointing right at a firing spot(forget the word), my cap has a 1 on it, if urs does, use that one, just so u know for future refrance
5. put all the wires on in the firing order
6. remove spout connector
7. start car
8. use a timing light to set the timing, stock is 10* BTC
9. turn off car, bolt everything down tight(dist.) and reconnect spout

ha im sorry(deffinatly am goin off of sleepin from 3-6 last night, and havin 2 hours of class today, w. a 12 hour work day)

ok wut i did was, pulled the plug, my dad set his finger over the hole, when it reaches tdc, or close to it, finger gets pushed off... just kept bumping the starter just a little little bit, when it was that close just line up the timing marks on the HB to the pointer and there ya have it

if ur alone, use a rag and set it in there, itll work just the same.

timing chain? on the front of the block, from the crank to the cam... but i think u mean where to look to time the motor... u look on the harmonic balancer, which is behind the crank pully

Something to keep in mind is that is when you try to start the car, if it pops and backfires, you are on the exhaust stroke... What you need to do in that case is unbolt the distributor, pull it out enough to where you can turn the shaft 180 degrees and set it back in the motor.... That should get your timing close enough so that you can adjust it... Good luck

Another way istorotate the engine over clockwise with a long socket wrenchby the harmonic balancer bolt(not sure on the size but it is pretty big). Line it up with the pointer at 0 degreeson the balncer and that is tdc on cylinder 1. Make sure the ignition is off when you do this.

right but that could put him on the exhaust stroke, not compression... do it the way i said.

and to ans ur "1 more question" i just did head gaskets, and so long as its all done right, no break in period

dont stress about askin questions... its wut were here for
