88 driveshaft question?some round thing
have a 88 lx 4cy car that has a 5.0 a standard tranny,on the drive shaft where it goes into the tranny there is a round thing that rides on the driveshaft,had to change the tranny and put it all back to gether and the car vibrates at high speeds,what is that ound thing and is it needed?

no I dont have a pics,I thought a driveshaft loop was mounted the the chassis somehow,,this thing just rides on the shaft,is'nt mounted to anything,to me its just a usless piece of heavy metal thats annoying at high speeds,lol

yea drive shaft loops do mount to the chassis, i must of miss understood you, try to get a pic and i'll be able to tell you for sure what it was

i got one of them too..ar you talking about that huge round "flywheel" type thing on the tranny end of the shaft...if you are then i think it is for centrifigul momentum with the 4 cylinder engines...it has a lot of mass and would act to help keep the rpms up when shifting gears..
