Default Quick Question

When i start the car when it is cold it starts up fine. Once the car gets hot and you try to start it, it wont start. it wont even click and then it smells like something is burning for a sec and lets some smoke out from under the hood. Then u give it like a minute and it starts fine. Anyone now what the problem could be. But like i said never does it when it is cold. only when it has been running for awhile and is hot. any help would be appreciated. thank you

It could be a loose wire and when it's been run it could ground out your motor but that wouldn't make smoke come out. It could have to do with your cooling system or oil. That would be my guess.

my first suggestion would be find out where that smoke is comnig from. cuz i can tell ya that it wont end well if you dont find out soon. im sure that will help you out a lot as soon as you find that out cuz once you do, im sure the problem will b pretty evident

sounds like a wire is getting hot in the starter system and starting to burn. possibly from a starter drawing too much amperage when trying to start or when the starter gets warm from being next to a hot engine!

Longtubes are notorious for baking starters as well...I would not hesitate to pull the starter...check it, wrap it with thermal wrap (or shield it) and replace the positive and negative wires if they have any age to them. Cheap insurance to prevent no start when you need it most.

exactly where i was going to go with this... A mini hi-torque starter would be a good idea.. along with a heat shield

usually when one thing goes...a combination will go...solenoid could be tired...bad ground wire could be case. My ground casing (rubber remember) litterally shattered when I removed the old pc...very very corroded.
