first thing I would do is a tune up, plugs, wires, cap, androtor...Check your timing, base timing is 10 degrees

Default Mustang does not re-charge!!

I have a 1991 mustang lx. when i go for a drive the car does not re-charge the battery and it ends up dying. It isn't a short because i charged it and when the car is just sitting there it will start right up, I brought the alternator to auto zone and they said it was perfictly new which it was only a year old. I also have replaced the battery wires and battery brand spanking new. also i have disconected and subs raido fogs any aux. components, and i just recently ripped up the lines to check all the wires and their all in good working condition. Is there anything else i can check for HELPPPP!!!!!!

Get an inductive timing light from any auto store (they are pretty cheap) there is a bolt holding the dizzy, you turn the dizzy until you find the desired timing, 10,12, or 14 degrees, don't go too high. You may need to clean your timing marks up with sand paper or something to see them, and also mark them with whit paint or something like that. It is pretty easy to do.

You need some special tools, I personally won't do them myself, I bought my car with 3.73s and I have no problems with acceleration.
