well thru the searching iv done on here iv found that LT headers are best for wilder engines while shorties are good for a mild engine but even on a mild engine LT will have more of an increases. In one of the posts it was said the the lond tubes wont/might not pass emittions, why is this? the midpipe not have cats like shorties midpipe does? do they not have EGR bung on them? And lastly if someone needed to stay emittion legal and went all out on bolt-ons (exc. super,turbo,nitrous,stroking,ect) what header would be for them? Thanks for info..im a import guy converting to domestic so trying to get my stuff together

if you have to pass smog, equal legnth shorties are the best. with LT the o2 bung (not egr like you said) is further from the head which slightly changes what the o2 reads making them not emissions legal.

ok thnx for that info. Im more than likely getting a 5.0 for christmas but that im not supposed to know so im getting a list of things i want to do and this is one of the problems i ran into. thnx for ur help

aint it true that LT's will pass the sniffer though? just not visual???

Well as long as you have cats you should be able to pass the emissions. I have Mac Long Tube Headers and Mac Offroad H-pipe. It seems to run alot better and sounds great. Can Burn out in Third after the exausht swap. Hopefully your parents get you a 5.0 and not surprise you with another type of car.

ive also heard LT's with cats will pass the sniffer but it wont pass a visual. if your area doesnt do a visual inspection (just the sniffer) then you might be ok to get LT's

as longa as ur car as cats and mufflers ur not goin to have a problem. and if u are afraid that ur not gonna pass, put some dry fuel in ur tank and ull be sure to pass. i forgot what it does tho, some one told me once what it did but i cant repeat what he said cause he used a bunch of long scientific terms. plus ive had friends use that dry fuel stuff with out cats and theyve passed so it deffinetly works

yeah, they got stuff here called "smog in a bottle" 100% that it works, (they say)

it just depends if you have to pass a visual.....
if you have a visual, get shorties
if you dont have a visual, get the LT's
