its a very easy swap and since its so cheap there is no reason not to do it regularly. i dont know what the recommended interval is tho.....anyone know?
"Once a year" is the recommendation, which is pretty ambiguous. I'll replace the one in the Stang every 10-15k

i just did mine last weekend, its right in front of the tank. it can be a little bit of a bitch to get out because there is a cover around the bottom of it that you might have to take off (its only two bolts though, no big deal). make sure you dont break the plastic clips that hold the fuel lines on (unless your new filter came with new clips, the fram that i used came with them), you'll have to re-use them if no new ones are included. make sure you de-pressurize thesystem though like that other guy said, or gas is going to **** everywhere. put some towels down too, and wear some eye protection...even if you de-pressurize, some gas is still going to come out. i got some in my eye when i took it off, i was not happy.

i'm not sure about the fox body cars, but in my '95 there is a switch in the trunk that turns off the pump, you turn that off and then run the car until it stalls out.
