4 cyl to 5.0 swap

RE: 4 cyl to 5.0 swap
If you're swapping from auto to standard, you're going to have a lil more fun. You have to change the pedalassembly and linkage(what with the clutch and all). I say it's much easier converting TO automatic, as you can just take off the clutch pedal. I had this problem myself when I was starting a swap.
Other thing : is it EFI to EFI, or EFI to Carb? If it's EFI swapping the tranny will most likely be the most difficult part. You also might want to switch rear ends though. The 7.5" rear ends can do the trick, but I like the reassurance of the 8.8s. And you have the quad shocks on those rear ends too. But if you're planning on using 265s or bigger, you'll prolly hafta take the quads out anyways.
You'll hafta find a place for the tranny cooler too, which shouldn't be a big problem at all.
So, I'm assuming here the 93 is the 4 cyl and that's the one with the auto you don't want? You'll want a new pedal assembly for the clutch, and from there it's not all that difficult. Make sure everything fits right. It might take some time and frustration, but you should be able to get it.

RE: 4 cyl to 5.0 swap
well heres the thing i have a 302 cobra, with a 4 barrel that im thinking of putting in, but heard dropping a cobra is going to require some fabric. and the 5.0 is in the 86 which would be easiest, so im trying to decide which one, any suggestions?

lol how wouldnt a free car be worth it even if you have to just part it out. is it intact or?
as far as main thread it won't be too hard to do the swap. do you own the 86? because that would be a factor if you own the cobra.

Personally, I would spend the time and do things on the cobra...But that's just me :P The 86 is also a nice choice...Seeing as I've owned 2, I'd say do that up for sure if money is a factor, as things might be a litle cheaper that rout.

i own both. i bought the cobra this year its in a ranger right now. have the intentions of making it into a drag truck. and then i came across the 86 and picked it up for cheap, but its a convertible, which you cant take on a dragstrip. the cobra already has a lil over 300 hp, 373 gears, dual exhaust, racing seats, etc. just not to aerodynamic.
butim knda just leaning towards just puttin the 86 into the 93, that way its FI, bc i personally dont like dealing with carbs.
