Default sputtering at low RPMs!? hmmm

ok, just got the stang back out 2 days ago (woohoo!) only problem is it sputters and hesitates at lower RPMs... in 1st it's fine, but in any other gear if i punch it while under 3k it will do this... like it's missing fuel or something? hmmm, any ideas about this?

the only thing that's been done to the car over winter was the smog delete and a tune-up (seafoam, changed all fluids). the cats are hollowed, the heads have been plugged, the belt fits perfectly, the pullies are well aligned. the filter and MAF have been cleaned up.... that's pretty much it.

i had about a 1/4 tank of 93 in it before i stored it for winter, and i dumped half a can of seafoam in it before starting it up... ran around all day yesterday ti'll it was empty and i filled it back up with 93 again. the fuel filter might be a good guess, if the seafoam really does what it's suppose to do i guess all the crap from the tank would end up stuck in the filter. i think i'm overdue for one anyway, so i'll definetly change it in the next couple days, see if that helps. thanks... any other ideas on what would cause this?

the fuel filter to be definitely sounds like the culprit to me

I had sputtering and it ended up being my #3 spark plug coil that was bad.

Did you pull the intake to plug the egr ports in the heads?? Maybe a vacume leak?

That would be a good guess of mine...also check to see if your MAF tube is still all tight since you proabably had that apart to clean the MAF. (What did you use to clean that?)

BTW, How did you plug your heads if you didn't take the intake off?

i lighlty sprayed it with carb cleaner to clean it. i plugged the holes by cutting off the thermactor line connectors and flipping them over, with a little hi-temp RTV to seal them.... the 5/8 bolts just wouldn't go in at all.

I got you, you plugged the heads for the smog pump(hence how you said smog delete...right over my head, sorry), I was thinking EGR ports in the heads.
