To do a stroker or a built 302/306

RE: To do a stroker or a built 302/306
If I were to build a 302 into a 'built' motor the cost would be the same.
After all. I'd need rods, crank, pistons etc.
Right now it costs NO MORE to build a 331 or 347 than it would to build a 306.
Power differance, lots. The 347 will make a bunch more torque and thats what really moves the car.
In any case the 331/347 would have to be cammed right and have the right heads too....

exactly why i considered it in the first place... just cant make my mind up a stroker kit would most likely destroy my driveline though and i dont want anymore down time on top of it getting rebuilt

you just nailed it, if your setup cant handle a stroker motor then why do it. you can have all the power in the world and no way to get it to the ground or back iy up and your at a loss. i would hope you can get better than 300 hp with a built 302 and more than 350 with a stroker. im at 340 with a built 302 which is a 306 with holley systemax 2, dss forged pistons, the bottom end is stock.

shouldnt they ALL be?
having over 400 at the flywheel from mine, i couldnt ever build myself anything smaller - my next one will be a 408 with 351C 4v heads, i cant wait to get some friggen money [8D]
