Default 25" tall tire...

Will a 25" tire give me better acceleration? Im going to buy Nitto nt555r Drag radial. the are 275/50/15, they say it 25" tall. Is that too short of a tire or will it just give me better acceleration?

i have 275/50/15 bfg drag radials and they are 26.1 inches tall
a taller tire will hurt your acceleration, i wouldnt go any taller than that

Its like changing your gear ratio - but a bigger tire = more contact patch = more grip

so a 25" tall tire will give better acceleration, so in other words a smaller tire will give better acceleration than a taller tire

not necessarily true. depends on lot of other factors like engine mods, torque peak, etc. I went from a 26" tall slick to a 28" tall one and picked up on my 60' times a little bit. small tires also make the engine rev faster in each gear and you will run out of rpms on the top end much sooner with a smaller tire. with my 4.56 rear gears, I was pulling 6,200+ rpm in 3rd gear with the 26" tire at the finish line and with the 28" tire it's only pulling about 5,700 rpm now.
