do you mean the TFI. cause the thing i bought doesnt have anything to cover it, but the tfi is coated with gel or something like that to protect from heat. i googled it and it sounded like the problems this thing has when it goes bad is what im having problems with. why would either of these things go bad right now? or is it just more strain with the battery in the trunk and since its 18 years old it just needs to be replaced? idk

ok, 1) we can't come to your house and diagnose it for ya, (unless you pay us lots of $$ anyways)
2) please don't just go throwing parts at it until its fixed, its very impractical!
3) have you checked fuel pressure while the car is malfunctioning?
4) spark when its malfunctioning??

find a fuel pressure gauge and a spark tester, and check that stuff out while the car is hot and not starting for ya! from there you can tell for sure whether its a fuel problem (probable fuel pump concern) or a spark problem (probably a tfi module, but COULD BE ANYTHING) so simply check stuff out. and let us know what you find :P
