Default Running Hot???

My 88 GT has been running hot for the last day. Temp on the gauge has it between the middle and 270. So probably around 220ish. I shut the car off and let it cool when I restarted it the temp went right back to 220ish at idle while parked. I checked the radiator and it was a little low. I put in about half bottle of prestone 50/50 which brought level back up. The temp did go down a little but would move around some. I then put in some redline water wetter and the temp started to go back to normal after accelerating while driving a few times. Then at idle the car stayed at 180* on the gauge (second line from bottom). I turned off the car for now and will see how it does tomorrow on the way to and from work. My Question Finally is do you think what I did is correct or what else should I watch for??? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks....

Default RE: Running Hot???

Well 9 views and no replies but thats OKAY. I got on the car pretty godd today . It warmed up to normal temps like usual and never got hot. The temp gauge is constant at the second line above 130*. Just a tiny bit more some times but never to the third line. So I'm running around 180-190* max now.
