Okay this is a really imporatant decision on my part and i need some help. Im going to start building a stroker got like 1000 bucks saved. I have a 1969 302 block that needs the machine work done to it aprox $650 and going to 347. My other option, buying a 351w new http://store.summitracing.com/partde...p;autoview=sku which has 4 bolt mains and simese bore and if thats chosen it will be getting stroked to 408ci. I know its more money but it might be worth it im not sure yet? Its going into a sn95 style mustang . Please tell me the pro's and cons of both. I know that the 69 302 blocks are alot stronger then the newer ones because they had more nickle content and thicker main webbings. Im just stuck here =/ any help guys thanks
Plan on making 700+hp? If not any production 351 is fine, 500hp then the 302 is fine. No such thing as higher nickel content. here is my 408 in the works, production block, will make an easy 600 on pump gas
The earlier blocks did have more nickel content...I say 351w because it's a 351w no way around it, but if you want your car to be quicker, you should loose that wing[:'(]
