Default cone filter inside or outside

I was told today that having a cone filter outside the fenderwell was bad because of water getting into the filter and then the intake as well. Is it safer to move my filter inside the engine bay, I know I will have more heat, but would do you all think. I have a cai currently.

It take a really lot of water to get up into the filter. I would leave it alone

thanks Pro, and sorry for the horrible joke the last time you posted an answer for me. Whats the best way to clean the cone filters, I have had k&n drop in filters before, do you clean the cones the same, or does it depend on wha the filter is made of.

If it's a mesh type filter, (not paper) you can wash it. Then add the oily crap to it to help catch the particals.

It's definitely not going to pull water unless your filter is mounted very low. If you mount itin the engine bay, you'll need to sheild it from the fan or you'll get fan wash and you'll have a buckin' ride.....
