Charging Issue...need input.
Today when driving home from the park I felt like flooring my 91 GT it felt nice, since yesterday I finished installing a Trick Flow Intake and 70mm t/b and egr plate, but after I floored it I looked at my gauges and the battery light, the one that turns on before you turn on your car, was on. I also noticed that the voltage gauge was around 1/6 of the way, I tried reving the car so the alternator would charge but the gauge didn't move, the car still runs the same like before. I tried turning the car on and off and still the same? What could it be?

do you think the gauge somehow in the process of flooring it messed up? im stumped. dont know what the hell could it be. Tomorrow im gonna disconnect the battery and see what that does, running out of ideas...

yeah,...after I put them in a long time ago I saw the voltage drop, but it always went to normal when I reved up the car, and now nothing it just sits there 1/6 of the way with that darn light on...

if you take it out and beat her a lil bit, meaning take it up to about 5grand a time or two, and rev it apast 3k on the roads etc, if the battery doesnt move at all, then its your alternator IMO.

I think thats whats wrong with it because when i rev it the damb needle doesnt move at all. Ill have the alt checked out tomorrow, what should a stock alt be putting out?

hmm i wish i knew but all i can tell you is simple stuff mate. The alternator charges the battery and if your battery is not being charged then its your alternator. Dont be alarmed if in the morning you go out to start it and your battery is dead and you need a jump start because your battery soon wont have enough juice to start on its own. I would recommend driving it to a mech shop if you dont know how to change the alt yourself and having them do it for you because you dont have to many more times of driving and shutting her off left im sure before you need a jump start each time.
