Default Smog Pump Delete

What is the best way to block the pipe after removing the smog pump. The previous owner just um well shoved something in there to block it.

Also what is the main purpose of doing this mod?

Just find a bolt close to the same size, get some jb weld made up and stick in it there and mold the jb weld around so it wont come out. Or you can get a little exhaust clamp and use that to keep the bolt in there.

main purpose is to loose 5lbs off front end.
and if you switch to off-road h-pipe with no cats, you dont need it.

There is a large bell shaped fitting on the pipe going into heads.
That is a check valve and only allows air IN
so its already capped to not let exhaust out.

You can also buy screw in plugs that go in the holes in the back of head too
if you wanted to completely remove the pipe. Got some for mine at Tommy Vaugh Ford

i just pulled the pipe out completely and threaded in a bolt into the back of the head to plug it up. looks cleaner and allows more room on the passenger side of the motor when changing spark plugs

I'll probably end up going this route.

What size bolt did you use?

There is a tech article floating around somewhere with the correct size bolt. Just make sure you get the right LENGTH. I got mine like 3/4" longer than suggested and it was the BIGGEST PITA trying to get it in there because of the limited amount of space. I would also just take the tube out. Cut it off of the h pipe and put a cap on it w/ a small hose clamp. Thats what I did. Looks half decent and seals very well.

it's 5/8 ....i tried all i could to thread that sucker in and it just wouldn't work[:@] there's too little space to work with in there. i ended up cutting the connectors off the pipe, flipped them around, put some RTV on there and screwed them back in.

It literally took my like an hour each side to get those damn bolts in. MAJOR PITA. And as for the tube, how did you guys get yours off? I used a cut off wheel and thats the ONLY way that I see it possible... I could never of gotten it off if it wasnt for air tools.

I figured a cap would be the best bet. I'll get it done once the weather gets warm again (VA weather makes no sense).
