The hole car is powered by electronics. If there's not enough to supply, all kinds of peoblems can result.

This is true I had a bad alt. and battery in my wife's Buick.The car would miss like crazy I spent a week trying to figure it out, put new wires, plugs, and o2 sensor. Finally The alt finally just quit completely. It wasn't supplying enough voltage to the computer.
