Some aftermarket cams use the 351w firing order.

302 HO and 351w firing orders are the same.

The HO firing order IS the 351w firing order. The 1542.... FO is the 221-260-289-302 standard firing order.

Doh, I always get em mixed up[8D]. My first 3 302's were non HO, so I got used to all 302's having that firing order. I did have a roller cam that was the old school firing order though. I think it was made by wolverine (company no longer exists).

vristang,
i did read that you CAN NOT just switch wires with the fuel injectors, your right. as you may recal my previous post about "modded but still gutless, why?" during that post i discovered that a z3x computer was running the show. i basically have a cobra motor.

how is a firing order switched like this. the engine looks older, ie dirt and oil seaping though. the carfax was clean and stated that it WAS a HO motor via the vin number. why and how would someone switch firing orders. from what i understang there is much more to it then just switching cams.

Like previously stated, you can't just "switch" the firing order. Most 302 components are interchangable, so all those mods could still be on a non-HO motor. That's why your car is "gutless."

You need to change the cam, dizzy, and a few other things to give it the HO firing order. I don't see how it's running at all w/an HO Cobra computer and the incorrect firing order.

Would the motor run if he actually had an HO motor, but the previous owner switched the plug wires around to the non-HO firing order? Try and switch the plugs wires around to the 13726548 firing orderand see what happens maybe. Just an idea.
