eh, ok... well heres the deal

option 1-try to do it yourself... spend 200 on a rebuild kit, and find a manual or something to learn how to do it, because believe me, youll NEED one if its your 1st time. and hope u dont **** up

also hope u have a hydrolic press and a bearing splitter.... itll be needed.

or option 2- you pm my boy 94gtcoupe and pay him to rebuild your t5, itll be cheaper then ANY shop will be, and will be done right... btwn me and him, there isnt a manual trans question on here we cant/dont answer. he knows his ****(more so then me, ive never taken one apart yet, simply because i dont have the time, but will be very shortly) id trust him with my trans.

I've got a .pdf of the T5 manual if you want it shoot me a PM. It's a little over 2mb so I don't think I can post it here. It shows the full teardown and assembly with illustrations.

Actually, here's the link where I got it: http://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2...-0510-0199.pdf

Hanalon Motorsports sells a video, it goes step by step for the entire process. It shows you how to inspect the parts and gives examples of what good reusable parts look like and which ones to throw away.

First off, the syncros don't have bearings, only the main cluster shaft does and the other shaft. If you have no 3rd gear, you will not be able to fix that with a rebuuild kit, you will need other parts. I would recomend bringing it to someone who knows what they are looking at, for the first timer, ther is a lot of stuff inside of there and can be very overwheling.

Also, there are shim that come with the rebuild kit for bearings, to get the proper preload.

It can be very intimidating when you start to take one apart for the first time. Ihadmessed up my 1-2 reverse slider and was going to do a rebuild.I calledHanlon and ordered the rebuild kit, slider, and the video and did it myself no problem. 5.0Stanger is right there are no bearings on syncronizers and you don't shim it tighter to bang gears. If third has gone out then you are more than likely going to need a cluster also. I know you have alreadypurchased the rebuild kit but you may want to look inside and see what all is messed up. These are great transmissionsbut when you tear one up it gets expensive to fix, price everything out it may be about the same price to pay some one to fix what you have and buy a new one.

well i have a third gear but it just grinds when going in it unless im at a real low rpm and gently sliding it in. ive had people told me its that syncro but others say its because he shimmed whatever too tight and made it go out
