Default Anyone have a manual rack ?

Thinking about putting in a 20:1 manual steering rack from www.50resto.com

any one have experience on how hard it is to steer?

They also offer a 15:1 rack. Which is better?

15:1 is the quick ratio rack, which means you will turn faster.... the 20:1 would be better for high speed driving, as it will slow down your steering some and make manuvering a bit less dangerous.

r.barn, How soon are you looking to buy one. My manual rack is going in this weekend, and im hoping to have my car running again by next weekend, So if you could wait I could give you a better answer

What Adder stated was good info. I have always used 20:1, it makes your reactions not so violent. But you will probably get different opinions, because a lot of it is feel. They are not bad at all to turn....of course so long as your wheels are moving. But it is not bad, you will adjust to it. Sometimes people will buy the faster rack to compensate for the small time change in correction from a P/S rack. Just my .02

I believe the stock power steering ratio is 17:1

the 20:1 will be easier at lower speeds than the 15:1 just due to ratios

Thanks guys,
I'll see what ratio my tuner recommends too.

Getting rid of it to make room for the twin turbo coming shortly
Everyone always dumps the a/c and moves p/s into its place. think I would
rather just have manual steering and keep the a/c ( it gets HOT down here[&:])

Ill probably only drive it when its nice out and stuff. Also dose name brand really matter when it coems to racks? can anyone hook me up with a good choice or site of some kind for good cheap manual racks? I dont feel like ****'n with my P/S pump when i go to bolt up my d-1 procharger.. and its one less thing my motor has to stress about.
