Lowering spring install Helllpppp
Hey guys, I'm installing my Cobra Springs right now in my 86 GT. The backs are in fine, along with the U&L Control Arms. I'm having some issues getting the front springs in though. I have a two piece spring compressor that goes on the outside of the spring. The compressor is a threaded rod with two hooks on opposite ends. I cant figure out how to compress the spring without the tool in the way. I removed the tie rod end, also removed the strut from the strut tower, and the brakes were removed also. Now only the A frame is heald on by the two large bolts. So, do you guys have any tips or anything?
I was hoping to get this done today.
Thanks

Hmmm, I didnt think you would have even needed spring compressors when replacing with shorter springs.Because i didnt need them when I replaced mine. I just used the floor jack and they went in pretty easy.

I just jacked up the lower a arm to compress the spring and then took some bailing wire and wrapped a couple rings together and then lowered the a arm. The spring stays compressed and you just pull it out!

I didn't need a compressor for my springs but it sounds like you're installing stock springs so you might need one to get the bastard in there... try pushing the control arm down as far as you can and see if you cant pop the spring up in there. I'd leave the isolators out for a lil more drop and ease of installation

I had a horrible time getting mine in, had to remove the lower control arm and then jack it up with the spring in it to get it back into position. But that was a pretty extreme case i think

Yeah, major pain in the a**. I'm gonna try using the floor jack and having somone try to push it inside. Thanks for the help fellas!!!
P.S.
Brining my block to the machine shop to have it brought to 30 over, what do you guys think I'll be spending?
