thats easily something that could mechanicaly fail. the e brake latch might not of caught or something, i had some crazy things happen in the past, but most are things that require electricity

not on the 5.0, but my 87 astro freaked the **** outta me because (usually at night) i would walk by it and hear Click Click (door lock actuators) and it has mechanical locks, later found out that the passenger side lock was sticky and caused it.

Thats some crazy *** ****. The only thing i can think of if somehow there was still a charge in the system somewhere....but still, the clutch needs to be pressed in......And i dont think a small charge in the system would be enough to crank the car. You should get it blessed or sumptin before you drive it again
