Default 4 cyl swap to 289 v8 mustang "Please Help"

I want to swap my 4 cylinder mustang witha 289 carbureated v8engine. My car is a 1990 mustang lx 4 cylinder and I don't know where to start because I am going from efi to carb?

please, whatever you do, get that 4 banger out of there! or give it a turbo, at least. my buddy in high school had a 87 4 banger and got beat by his gf's festiva, and also lost to a dodge omni. what a disgrace!

yah, if your going to go carbed, rip all the EFI wiring out, drop your 289 in(bolts right in, btw), different fuel system will be required, new pickup in the tank, etc...

Is there any reason why you would want the 289 specifically? Cause you can put a 5.0L in there and slap a carb on that and you'll get the benifitsofaroller cam and HO firing order. You will have the same fuel issues as stated before with either of the motors.

I have a freshly rebuilt worked 289 cobra motor that I pulled out of a mustang a while back.

all other things being equal...... 289 > 302

shorter stroke + longer rod = faster revs & higher rpm ceiling

pwnd
