Default Ticking Noise Distributor??

i juss changed my spark plug wires and took it out for a ride and it ran fine. btter than before. this mornin wen i was leaving i noticed a tickeing noise. its synchronized with the cars rpm's so as the rpm's rise the speed of the ticking increases at the same time. i tightened down the headers and exhaust so im pretty sure its not that. i listened and thought it may be the distributor cap. took it off to see if something was disrupting it but nothing appeared wrong. the noise from the car makes it hard to see if its the intake manifold or the distributor but theres a noticeable ticking. the performance of the car is not affecting just the sound is annoying. anybody have this problem before?

any chance one of the wires isn't tight, and the arc is jumping across a small distance instead of being constant through the metal?
that would create a tick that goes with the rpms

well i pressed the wires on firmly. ill try takin em off n doin it again but they all felt snug. wat do u mean wen you refer to the arc? your basically saying that theres not a good connection with everything causing the spark to have to "jump a distance?"

yah, the spark from the coil travels through the distributor cap and out to the wires, and then to the plugs. if one of the wires is broken or burnt or cut a bit, the spark will jump out and hit the nearest ground spot, creating a tick.

hmm i dont know if thats my problem because the wires are brand new. but interestingly i do see a small spark between the wires and my dipstick. ive got heatwrap around the boot of the plugs because i had a problem with my headers melting my wires so ive covered them with heatwrap, a metal type material. i may have messed up one of the wires wen i was putting them in but i doubt it because i was sure to be careful with em. hmm??

if your seeing spark, its bad, and thats also creating the noise.

also, to correct your wire situation, replace your bottom valve cover bolts with bolts that will allow for a wire holder to be pressed onto them. you can purchase a kit with this stuff.
