RE: 4 cylinder springs ?????????
if your going to be running your car on twisty back roads i wouldnt install softer springs or remove the front sway bar.
cutting the springs is fine as long as the springs arent progressive. i dont believe the stock springs are

ok look, i JUST put 4banger springs in the front of my car AND removed the sway bar. heres the deal
1st off my intentions for the car are straight line racing, i dont care about handling at all, its not important to me what so ever.
so i have those springs, and strange 10 ways, that are set as loose as they get. it handles turns like shyt, leans hard, etc etc. but for what i want, there great. they do lower it a little, check out my thread about them, theres before and after pics.
but really for what you want, you are gonna wanna keep the sway bar, and get some progressive lowering springs...

how big of a drop are you wanting? i would do (from experience) a coil and a half out of the front and a coil of the back. it just be a nice all around drop and it shouldn't ride like complete crap etiher
