Default tranny swap

my trans was sawped on my 88 hatch. the previous owner said he didnt change the computer. is it necessary to. i keep getting this wicked mis-fire and i think it might be causing it,.

from what tranny to what tranny? you can run the auto computer with a manual tranny with no problems. ive heard the auto tranny computer has a slightly more aggressive timing curveto make up for the sluggish stock aod

sorry. the car was stock with a auto, now its got the 5 speed in it. do i have to change it at all?
