RE: radio harness
I dont see why you couldn't make it work, you just have to know which wire go to what. I just redid my S-10's stereo, and whoever had it before me had cut out the factory wiring harness all together. Not sure how it is on the mustangs, but i am sure they are all pretty much the same for the most part.
I would suggest getting a soldering iron. I just got one of them wireless "Cold Heat" ones, so i didn't have to run a cord outside. Also heat shrink tubing is highly suggested.
Pull out your factory stereo.
Black = Ground
Red = 12V Power
Yellow = Constant Power (Keeps power to the radio while the car is off)
Orange = Dimmer (not sure how it is on a car that old, but that is how it is on my 96)
All the other wires are going to be speakers. What I did was just guess off of the pairs as to which speakers wires went where, and used the process of elmination.
Have fun, and if you don't use heat shrink tubing, use electrical tape!!
