I HAVE AN 88 mustang that I installed a mass air flow conversion kit from ford racing (m-9000-a51) and have been driving it for 3500 miles now and it has started revving to 2000 rpm every time it is turned on regardless of it being cold or hot, then it will drop down to regular idle after 2-3 min. but it will rev again to 2000 rpm if it is left sitting. I also sometimes feel a great hesitation when I gas but itwill pick up and launchthe car if I continue to gas it after a few seconds. The car also seems to lightly sound like it back fires or spits as I am driving down the road. I DID THE idle setting procedure WITH the instructions from ford, but I tried that and itdid not work. Itried changing the tps and the idle air control solenoid as well as checking the fuel regulator but I can't seem to get any reading out of the computer fromford racing.I do not think the computer is bad because Iput it in less that 7 months ago andthe car justrecentlyacted up after 3000 miles of drivingok.Do I need to calibrate it or should it be already set? If you have any suggestions please let me know. Here is a list of the parts I used in my application if it helps:

Sounds like yourthrottle cable may be binding. Did you set the TPS sensor or just install it?

the car revving up to 2k when you first start it is actually perfectly normal. On initial start up, the IAC motor open all the wayand its like stepping on the gas for a brief second, it runs the RPM's up on the car then slowly brings them down to ensure proper warm up and starting of the vehicle.
