Default What could be wrong?

I have an '85 GT with a few mods... edelbrock 4 barrel carb, 3in stainlesssteel flowmaster exhaust; the biggest thing is that it was a manual, but the guy I bought it from changed it an aod. I beleive I have 3.73 gears (I think that's what came on my year model, but correct me if I'm wrong).Itjust doesnt seem to have the go that it should and my hunch is because of the trans swap. If anyone has any suggestions, or advice it would be greatly appreciated.
Oh yeah, as far as I know everything else is stock.

It doesn't go because it really doesn't have any "go" mods. What you need are heads that flow better than a plastic straw. I'd also think about a converter for the aod. Anything will help get it moving. A decent set of headers wouldn't hurt you any either.

The heads will make all the difference in the world. And make sure the carb is properly tuned.

Trick Flow or AFR's. Either one will net you the best results.

You really don't have to spend that kind of green on those. Get yourself a nice set of BBK long tubes for 1/2 what Ford headers would cost.

Edit: I'm going move this to the 5.0 section, you'll get more hits on this.

You don't have 3.73's stock, should be 2.73 or 3.08

2.73 or 3.08 plus an auto with light mods is your problem. i would start with getting a new rear and replacing the 7.5 to an 8.8 (if still stock) then 4.10 or 3.73 if you want to swap back to the manual

Here's an idea to improve your acceleration, a lot of people don't know about this. The Mopar people can actually help you go faster. Take your car into the local dodge dealership and use it as a down payment for an SRT-4. You'll notice horsepower and acceleration gains almost immediately.
