Default Throwout Bearing

I currently have the trans removed from the bell housing. Can the throwout bearing be replaced without removing the bell housing?

Also, from what I can tell the throwout bearing actualy does not have roller bearings, correct? Should this be greased before reasembly?

yes you can remove it without removing the bellhousing, the tob has ball bearings in it, the new one will be pre greased, put a light coat on the input shaft sleave when reinstalling

Do I simply push it off of the fork? Or is there a trick to it?

just push it off the fork and put the new one in but be sure when you put the tranny back in you dont knock it out. in other words just be easy with it until the shaft is through it before getting to crazy. if your pressure plate i would go ahead and remove the bell housing and have the flywheel turned and or check for missing teeth on the flywheel and if you do this also be sure to change the pilot bearing and bushing along with it while the flywheel is out.

Quite a bit of pressure on it now, I would have to pry it out.

it shouldnt be like that, take something like a screw driver and put it in the inside of the bearing against the wall of it on the side it comes out of and tap it with a hammer and try to losen it up and also spray some lectra clean or similar cleaner on it before doing this.

Look inside the bell housing and the TB is being held by the clutch fork, up against the pressure plate fingers. Seems there is some clutch pressure against he TB
