Default tranny help needed

Hey guys could use some info here, recently installed a rebuilt t-5 into my 88 and forgot to install the reverse switch(drivers side up top in a bad place) I managed to thread it in but when I tightened it, the whole end of it kinda disintegrated. I've been looking around, and I found a replacement switch(sensor whatever its called) but it doesn't look the same, the spacing of the bit that sticks in the transmission is a tad longer(@ 3/8 longer) and it does not have the pigtail on it, just two threaded round posts...is this the correct part and if so am I supposed to change the wiring and find a couple nuts and install that way?

this is what I found: http://www.partsamerica.com/productd...01&PTSet=A

car is a 1988 gt 5.0 with a t-5

it may just be a little different design. Or a generic picture.

the one you posted was for a 94, the 88 looks the same, should be, it is the same tranny.

I have the one in the picture, should I splice a couple connectors onto the pigtail and put a couple nuts on and call it done? I'm kinda hot to trot to turn the key on this car, it has been down for close to a year...

hold up a second... is the sensor that you broke in the side of the case, or in the top cover...

the sensor you linked us should be in the side of the case... which is the reverse light switch...

the sensor up top is the nuetral safety switch

Hey Adder whats up? the sensor I need is on the drivers side of the transmission, but high on the transmission where it is hard to get your hand, I believe it is the only large threaded fitting with an electrical hookup I have, on the same side I have on in the middle which is a push-on and the speedo, which I have other problems with.
