Safe CR on 94 pump gas?
Alright looking at a 331 or 347 stroker kit with many different options for piston sizes and compression ratios. I am planning on running an AFR 165 head with a 58cc combustion chamber. What do you guys think would be the safest compression ratio to run on 93 or 94 octane pump gas without having to step it up to race gas everyday. This is not my daily driver to work or anything but I do drive it about 4 or 5 times a week on the street and would prefer not to have to fork out the cash for race gas every week.

or at least the 185's if he wants to stay in AFR heads (they ARE kick *** heads)
10.5 is ok with aluminum heads, and remember kiddies MOST engines are actually lower than you'd think - thats just the way it is.
like the pistons i ordered are supposed to be around 9:1 flat tops with a 60cc head, but i know it'l really be like 8.75 or so which is why i'll zero deck the block and the heads have already had about .010 or so shaved off, so i'll be closer to 9.5 - 10:1

cam has a huge effect as well. you could run 11.5:1 compression but youll need a cam that will bleed most of that off
