rearend swap. 7.5 to 8.8 ?'s
I got a free 8.8 rearend with disc brakes the other day. I currently have the old four cyl. 7.5 rearend in the car. What all is needed to change the rearend with the 8.8 unit. Will it bolt up directly or do i need to buy some things to make it work? Any other advice would be helpful as ive never done this before.

Whats the rear out of? Most disc brake rears are from cars with ABS, so the axles will be about 1/2in longer on each side. One prob that I've head of is that the axle breather that holds down the brake line is on the wrong side. Mine was in the right place though. If you want to use your stock brakes, they'll bolt right up. Axles are the same too..

I think its out of a lincoln. not sure. its 5 lug with disc brakes. couldve come from a newer mustang. A friend of mine owns a pick n' pull and he's has a dirt track car and had pulled a couple 8.8's out of various cars. I told him i was building a drag mustang and asked me if i wanted it. I still have to take it apart and put new gears and axles in it. For the drag radial class i want to run a 10.5 tire and some 15x10's with a 6.5 backspace will fit underneath a stock 8.8 rear on a hatchback.
With the rears being drum brakes on the old car, is there a kit that will adapt that brake line to ones with disc brakes?
