Went car shopping today, need advice
Cars i looked at were:
1993 z28 130k miles
4300.00
seemed very slow, wont be getting it but the guy was really cool
1996 Mustang GT convertible 47k miles
4200.00
Slow, Slow, Slow, paint faded, rides like crap, interior was nasty, was obvious that the miles were rolled back the interior was so nasty. Wont be buying that.
1994 Trans am automatic
4200.00 121,000 miles
new paint & transmission, rides pretty fast, sound was nothing special. The ride wasnt too bad but i can tell it needs around 500.00 in mechanical parts to restore it. Leather interior was decent and once its cleaned, the overall interior will be alright. The same guy who was selling the 47K mile mustang is selling this. Who knows if he rolled the miles on this one, very confusing. Doubt i'll get this one.
1994 Z28 automatic
4300.00 115,000 miles
Rides extremely fast, amazing. Sound was unreal. Fastest car ive ever been in. Needs a paint job eventually though. Cloth interior wasnt too bad but the top of the dash has a big hole in it just like the other Z28 i looked at and the Trans Am i looked at??? Is this just a normal problem with those cars or do you think its the way they roll the miles back and they damaged the car???
1995 Mustang GT convertible with GT40 Package. Stick shift
5000.00 68,000 miles
It was decently fast but not overly impressive. It might just be that im not used to driving a stick and i have to get used to it. Sound was really good, almost as good as the Z28 but not quite. Ride was pretty smooth but not perfect but was the best out of any car i drove today. Leather seats were in great condition, interior looks great. Convertible top works great. Upgraded wheels (18 inch chrome bullet......i think thats what they are called) Comes with an extra set of wheels too. It needs a paint job eventually but not right away
Ok, im leaning towards the 95 GT convertible and the Z28. The mustang was basically perfect except for the paint and even though its not as fast as the Z28, the convertible and pristine interior adds so much to the car. But that Z28 was bad *** for speed & sound. Either one of them would have to be painted eventually. Im not sure what a GT40 package is but i would feel much more eager to get the Mustang if i knew there were other things i could do to make it faster. That Z28 threw my head back And if thats as fast as i can get the Mustang to go without dropping a supercharger in it, its gonna suck a little.
Do you guys think these prices are good or not and what would you do? What should i expect to pay for a paint job. A couple of people told me i could get it for around 800.00 today. What would you guys do. I know this is a Mustang forum but please be as objective as possible.
Thanks

RE: Went car shopping today, need advice
Id definetly get the 95 stang. Mainly because of milage. 68 vs 120... The stang can be made faster easily, and as long as you consider vert a good thing then id say its perfect for you. Also, you can make the mustang sounds 10x as good as the maro with as little work. As far as paintjobs, you get what you pay for. Pay 800$ and it will look OK for a few years then be lousy. A good paintjob will cost upwards of 3g.

Saying that you are considering a "Z28" on a Mustang forum can get you shot!
I say keep looking for a solid Fox-Body Mustang...or spring the extra $$ and go with an '05&Up Mustang. Forget those Camaros...they are the ENEMY!!

a 95Gt convertable with 68k for 5K is a good deal, add Gt-40 heads andintake and its almost a steal. Get the stang and F*ck the camaro. By the way you are on the wrong site to ask if you should get a stang or camaro.

RE: Went car shopping today, need advice
The GT40 package came with the stuff in this link i believe:
http://www.mustangsunlimited.com/ite...T1=M9000G41+01
The car also has some kind of exhaust or y-pipe or whatever its called. What else can i do to make the car faster? Im kind of a noob when it comes to performance upgrades so please be a little specific and try to give me an estimate on prices for parts. All the installation is basically free so i just have to come up with the parts.
Im gonna keep shopping for a better condition z28 or trans am but more than likely im gonna just get the Mustang in the next day or 2 before its gone and im kicking myself for pasing it up. I know its a great price and underpriced at least 1000.00.Thx again for the help guys

I think i understand what you mean about "quality" because my mechanic told me that all the dash boards crack on those GM cars. At least it makes me less suspicious that they rolled the miles back and every TA/Z28 i drove had issues with slow power window motors and a rough ride. They felt like 13 year old cars but the stang felt like a 5 year old car, everything worked. Just wish it was a little faster. So yea guys, help me out and give me some ideas on how to make it a little faster.
The GT40 package supposedly transforms the car from 215 horsepower to 290 hp. An extra 30 - 40 horsepower is probably gonna make me very happy.
Thx
