get rid of the air box and silencer and get you a cold air kit. underdrive pulleys, pro-m meter and a throttle body

cold air or ram kits will do fine, even though I prefer ram, but there have been tests saying that they do the same thing on mustangs so i doenst matter which one you have. But if you get ram air get the March Performance Ram kit, it goes under the air dam in front of your car, not very hard to install. And for pulleys I would get March Performance pulleys too cause they can get you 10-13 more horse power just with pulleys. and depending on your engine you'll have to figure out which throttle body and pro-m meter you want.

iirc on a stock vehicle you don't want to bother with a bigger maf or throttle body.

not yet but the worst is prob the exhaust side , the entire tract . head port and header , muffler . get some headers and cat back. prob gears and pullies like some mentioned . maybe an intake ? cobra one is not too expensive . (ford stoped making them i think) the stock one sucks . adj fuel regulaor if you start modding alot .

The cam is isnide the engine....... you're gonna have to change alot of gaskets with a cam swap. Besides its not worth changing a cam really unless you change the heads at the same time for the most gain. Go with a custom ground cam from compcams and a night set of roush or tfs heads when you come to that point. The ford cams suck in my opinion. You won't gain as much, and you dont get that beautiful sound in the mufflers.

Anyways as far as first mods. Go with long tube or shorty headers(i suggest shorties not only for the beter sound but long tubes gain more hp in the end but th o2 censors wont reach them without extensions and the ac will drip right on them and rust the floor boards from all the heat), matching fit h pipe or x pipe (x pipes flow better), and god please when you get muffler DONT get flowmasters... I mean if you're all for the really ignorant sound woohoo go get them so you can be like everyone else in america.... or you can get some straight flowing designed mufflers like dynomax, hemi turbos, or magnaflow wide-opens. You'll gain the most power out of the wide-open designed muffler, which restricts nothing compared to the chambered flowmaster design.

Almost forgot haha. A cold air kit, and some 3.73 gears and you'll be doing pretty nicely..... I'd say atleast low 13s high 12s.

my stang is running in the 13's with a bigger throttle body and mass air meter. ask any one of the nmra racer and they will tell you to go to a bigger size. the stock 302 has a lot of potential. you just have to wake it up. yes exhaust is needed also but you need air to push throught that new free flowing exhaust.
